Brief update 2

The additional input for the Database is whether they were a financial supporter or a labouring supporter. This is so when they are contacted they can be asked for help in the correct area eg: not asking a financial donator who is maybe too old to be working on the build to give labour support.

There is a small change to the brief in bold below

Content:
· Will contain information inputs for the following categories
o Names (First, Surname)
o Age
o Area of Expertise
o A contact phone number (eg: cellphone or homephone)
o E-Mail address (invites and thank-you’s)
o The way in which they have supported habitat for humanity (financial or volunteer).
A habitat for humanity logo
Some form of disclaimer about what the information will be used for
Must be easily searchable by name, area of expertise and age.

Brief Update 1

Small changes to issue and purpose brought about from meeting with Tina during the holidays. Mainly about revelation they already have a database program but it is difficult to use and therefore time consuming. I am being employed to create a easier solution to the problem of keeping track of volunteers. Also is the addition of one catagory of information but I have left my notes regarding it at home so will bring them in tomorrow and upload then.

Issue: Habitat for Humanity is a charitable organization that builds homes for the poor. As it is non profit they cannot pay for permanent staff and instead rely on volunteers to build these houses. As a worthwhile charity they attract a lot of volunteers. They have a national database called razors edge but are restricted to 3 people logged on at any one time nationally and have difficulty using it. Also the database only keeps track of national issues like sponsors and not volunteers. They wish for a database to keep track of local people. They also require this database be easy to use.

Purpose: This database will be built to keep track of volunteers that give their time to Habitat for Humanity in order to attempt to gain their support for helping out again in the future. By Taking a persons contact information will give Habitat a means to contact them by and request their help again boosting participation numbers and capacity. This database will be tailored solely for Habitat for Humanity lower North Island. The information needs to be accessed fairly easily through Ms Access considering the person accessing the computer could have lots or no experience with computers, mainly Ms Access also considering this is being proposed as a solution to a current solution that has been dismissed as to hard to use.
