Habitat for Humanity Database Brief

Issue:
Habitat for Humanity is a charitable organization that builds homes for the poor. As it is non profit they cannot pay for permanent staff and instead rely on volunteers to build these houses. As a worthwhile charity they attract a lot of volunteers. They have a national database called razors edge but are restricted to 3 people logged on at any one time nationally and have difficulty using it. Also the database only keeps track of national issues like sponsors and not volunteers. They wish for a database to keep track of local people. They also require this database be easy to use

Purpose:
This database will be built to keep track of volunteers that give their time to Habitat for Humanity in order to attempt to gain their support for helping out again in the future. By Taking a persons contact information will give Habitat a means to contact them by and request their help again boosting participation numbers and capacity. This database will be tailored solely for Habitat for Humanity lower North Island. The information needs to be accessed fairly easily through Ms Access considering the person accessing the computer could have lots or no experience with computers, mainly Ms Access.

Audience:
Habitat for Humanity organizational staff. People whose information is being tracked. Me. Mr Olsen

Text Formatting:
Heading:
The main heading of the Database will be in 60pt Arial Black
Body text:
The body text will be in 18pt Arial

Graphic:
The graphic that I intend to show on the page is the Habitat for Humanity logo. Permission to use this copyright image must be acquired.

o Area of Expertise
o A contact phone number (eg: cellphone or homephone)
o E-Mail address (invites and thank-you’s)
o A habitat for humanity logo
Some form of disclaimer about what the information will be used for
Must be easily searchable by name, area of expertise and age.

Well some have been placed in new catagories and totally new ones added .

Habbitat for humanity have changed the verbal
brief. They now want a database keeping track of volunteer information. This weekend I will have a meeting with Neil, the head of the board about what information they want the database to store
